E-Learning Focus Groups

If there are any students on the course willing to roll up for an e-learning focus group, could you please contact Andrew as soon as you can. It would be quite simple – an hour long discussion with a facilitator concerning what you know, like, don’t like, when it comes to “e-learning”.

Thanks, Andrew!

Robots – Rodney Brooks

We’re looking at the artificial this week – so this video below, by well-known robot researcher, Australian Rodney Brooks, is really very interesting … you might also look at Ken Rinaldo’s site … you might also check out the links for Mitchell Whitelaw’s excellent book on this topic – Metacreation.

and here is a robot that can re-assemble itself.

Amoeba Dance

Here’s another interesting video – an “Amoeba Dance” produced live in a VJ package (VDMX), using Quartz Composer, audio analysis and some effects. The status of this image of course lies somewhere between new forms of design, new images, the generative, cross-signal processing, living coding and the impact of the digital – that’s before you get the question of this an an “artificial” life form, exploring it’s own virtuality across these domains.

So it’s a kind of an emblem of the last 3-4 weeks of the course.
